The Importance of Training

We take great pride in the capability of the PBS book-making hardware. But even the best of systems can yield poor quality books with an inexperienced operator. If you invest in our system, you need to start making high-quality books quickly in order to shorten the return-on-investment.

ExactBind "Book Making 101" is a low-cost one day course that is available at three locations in the United States. The course is designed to get you operational as soon as possible, minimize scrap, increase profit margin, and make sure that your customers receive the best books possible.

This is a hands-on course that covers all of the facets of book-making:

• Paper grain - Why paper grain and correct page impositioning is critical for maximizing pull strength.
• Paper types – How coating and toner can affect your binding.
• Laminating - Single and double sided laminating, board mounting, and the application of mounting adhesives to make custom hard covers from exotic stocks.
• Hard cover making – You’ll learn how to make book cases using printed covers (coffee table type), leather, leatherettes, suedes, and book cloth.
• Binding – The importance of milling, notching, gluing, and nipping. Soft cover, hard cover perfect bound, floating spine strips (lay-flat), and Flexpage.
• Trimming – How to minimize your labor, reduce the number of cuts, and trim books without crushing the spine.
